“If Courage Could Talk”

1938

Earl’s wife, Tallulah, carries a quiet fire of her own. One year after her mother’s murder, she declares: “I can’t rest until I find out who killed my mother. I need to avenge her death. It’s the way of my ancestors.”

Will she risk her family for revenge?

Newly elected Alderman Earl Thomas challenged the carpenters' union to accept colored members when he told them, “If we can’t come to an understanding, then you’ll live with the consequences.”

A gangster learns about Earl’s plan and sends two men to change his mind. Now it’s personal.

War looms in Part Two, and Junior travels to Alabama to begin training for the Tuskegee Airmen.

In England, colored troops are not fighting the Germans. They are too busy fighting racist MPs, trying to enforce Jim Crow laws on military bases and English towns. Fist fights turn into gun fights.

A returning soldier told Junior, “The colored man went overseas to fight the Nazis. Now he’s home—and must fight the same hate.”

“You’re right, but they’re about to learn  that a new generation of angry, fearless niggers are coming home."
