Each book in the whileBlack Chronicles' is a stand-alone story, yet they are interconnected through the Thomas family journey across generations. The series is praised for its rich storytelling, historical accuracy, and strong, relatable characters who embody the African American experience.
Why I Wrote the whileBlack Chronicles:
As a storyteller and student of history, I created the whileBlack Chronicles to tell the truth America still struggles to face—the Black experience, not as side notes in history, but as the center of it.
This series is my answer to textbooks that skipped over our brilliance, our battles, and our beauty. Each book follows a Black American family, beginning on a Mississippi cotton plantation, and moving through freedom, migration, war, politics, and protest. These are not just stories of struggle—they are stories of strategy, survival, and strength.
Why is that important? For too long, African American history has been told from the outside looking in. The whileBlack Chronicles tells it from the inside—from within the culture, with characters who feel like family, and moments that echo through time.
We were never just victims of history. We were dreamers, builders, lovers, fighters, and visionaries.
With every chapter, I hope readers—especially Black readers—see that truth. Our story has always mattered. I’m here to make sure it’s told.
