I have read quite a few books on the Civil War but none that told the daily life & appalling conditions that slaves had to endure.
I see this is the first book in a series & I cannot wait to get the next book.
Well done, Mr. Hayes!

This the 2nd book as it hit from the beginning picking up where the 1st one left off. The storyline and the people in it are strong proud people. Family tight-knit generation after generation. They carried the story of their Ancestors from each generation to the next. Well written. Keeps the reader hanging on not wanting to put the book down!
