In Book Five, If Courage Could Talk, in 1941 Ben Jefferson leaves Chicago for Alabama to train as a Tuskegee Airmen.

He never lost a bomber he escorted.

In Book Six, WWII ended, and Ben and other Black officers prepare Black soldiers to meet Jim Crow when they arrive in Newport News, VA, in fourteen days.

Southern Military Police, whose mission is to enforce segregation, create daily tensions on board the ship.

On day thirteen, someone was missing.

It was time to execute Captain Jefferson's plan, which would either work, get him demoted, or put him in prison.
